Our last big shebang as a family of 3…

Babyhead saw his first movie in a theater today, Wall-E.  I don’t think the totally understood how big a deal it was at first since all his movies have been watched at home.  He kept saying he wanted to go “pick up Wall-E” and just didn’t understand when we told him we weren’t buying it, but watching it in a theater.  I can understand his confusion since he has never been to a theater…

We get to the theater and we could tell he was confused a little…but not in a bad way.  We buy our tickets and of course for him to get the full experience of theater movies we get popcorn and sodas.  We then have our ticket stubs taken and walk to the theater down the hall.

We get there just as the previews are showing and of course the hall is a little dark and LOUD.  This freaks him totally out and he starts screaming, “I’m scared, I’m scared!”.  It is times like these where I am torn between forcing him to face the fear and just letting him go.  I tell DH to give me the drinks and popcorn and pick BH up and just take him in.  Maybe if we can round that first corner where you can see the screen he will be ok as at the moment all he knew is it was dark and loud.

DH picks BH up and poor BH…he is clawing at the walls screaming not wanting to go into the dark loud place…until he sees the screen.  Then he is hooked.  Of course, it is the biggest TV he has ever seen in his life so he is glued to it.  Thank goodness Disney movies have tons of Disney trailers!

We find a seat in the front where no one else was and sit in the middle of the row.  DH holds BH in his lap and we proceed to eat lots of popcorn and watch the trailers.  Then…Wall-E came on and BH’s face just lit right up with the biggest smile.  He was glued to the screen after that…

Almost to the end though he did get antsy…but he was really really good anyway and just walked in front of us.  No fits or anything.  Of course, I was crying at the end!  LOL  It was sad, but I won’t give it away…

So, our first movie with BH was a HUGE success!  I am so happy it was and we plan to take him to movies more often.  Our last big shebang as a family of 3…
