A Suvivor…Again

No, I’m not talking about that horrid TV show.  I am talking about my Aunt.  I spoke to my step-mother the other day and she said they were planning a birthday celebration for my Aunt’s 60th birthday.  This is important…because a year ago they told her to get her personal life in order…that she would most likely not survive the re-occurance of her cancer.

You see, she had breast cancer quite a few years ago.  She had a double mastectomy and other treatments and thought she was ok.  Then, a year ago she was diagnosed with more cancer throughout her body.  The doctors were willing to treat her with experimental treatments, but they did not hold out much hope.  She was on one drug at one point that made her nose bleed so bad she had to go to the ER and get blood transfusions.

However, throughout it all I was told she still went to work when she was able.  She still had a positive outlook on life.  She was confident she would beat it a second time.

And she did.

She has 3 more treatments to go, but now the doctors are sure she is cancer free.

And she is going to celebrate her 60th birthday.

Happy Birthday Aunt Emadean.
