5:32 a.m.
That is the time my son was born three years ago on New Year’s Eve. We are now in the process of counting down to the Big Day. Three years. Wow. It seems like just yesterday he was a tiny lump of a thing that only pooped, peed and slept all day.
Three Years.
So, the other day we decided to go to Party City and pick out some Big Day decorations. We really don’t have a “party” per se since he is the only child in the family…but I make a point to celebrate his birthday different from the other holidays and everyone is always over at the ILs on New Year’s Eve anyway for the New Year’s Eve party…so it all works out.
We let Babyhead chose his decorations. After looking at the entire kids isle he decided on Nemo. I really don’t know why as it isn’t a movie he watches all the time…to be honest he has maybe seen it two or three times…but that’s what he wanted so that’s what we got. We got just a few necessary things like plates and napkins and a few decorations as well as Nemo wrapping paper. Wrapping his Big Day gift in Christmas paper is a BIG NO NO. The Big Day is a separate holiday from Christmas…therefore separate paper is required.
I informed MIL a.k.a. Grandma that this was the theme he picked out this year and showed her what little we bought and asked her to pick up a Nemo Mylar Balloon that day for us as well as any other Nemo she wanted to get. It always makes her feel important and special when we ask her for things and it helps keep the tension down as she doesn’t go berserk with buying things we didn’t want or ask for. These are the things you learn when you have children…making the ILs happy as well so holidays go smoothly.
List of things to do in the morning:
1. Bake cake.
2. Make pudding pies.
3. Wrap Big Day presents.
Doesn’t sound like a lot…but I can see I already have my hands full.
